Discover Ghent's vibrant markets: a feast for the senses 

Looking for a beautiful bouquet, a tasty piece of fresh fish or an antique candlestick for the table? You'll find everything you're looking for at Ghent's markets. Sunday is traditionally market day. A tradition the people of Ghent like to keep alive. Spread over the city center and the suburbs, you can find more than 15 different markets for food, antiques, small pets and other items.

Most markets are not covered such as the Kouter, Sint-Jacobsplein, Beverhoutplein, ajuinlei, oude beestenmarkt, groentemarkt, Sint-Michielsplein. 

There are also a few options at Dok noord (Hall 16), Lousbergkaai (Lousbergmarkt), Kouter (CRU-cuit) and Heilige Geeststraat (Knol&Kool) to enjoy the market indoors along with a snack and a drink.

Of course, there are numerous other markets around Ghent, some on Sundays, others on various weekdays:

  • Monday: for fresh food and new merchandise, visit the Schooldreef (Gentbrugge)
  • Sunday morning: the Biomarkt on the Ledebergplein (Ledeberg)
  • At the farmers' markets you can buy fresh produce directly from the farmer or cattle breeder. Here are some locations and dates:
    • Wednesday: at Business Center De Punt in Gentbrugge
    • Thursday: at the Vogelenzang
    • Friday: along the Antwerpsesteenweg in Oostakker
    • Saturday: in the Spijkstraat and Halvemaanstraat in Sint-Amandsberg
    • Sunday: on the Charles de l'Epéeplein.
